Eco Driving Report: Duration and Mileage

Topic: Eco Driving Report: Duration and Mileage

Hello,
We are having some issues getting some values in some groupments inside Eco Driving reports.

Problem:
When Eco Driving reports are executed with groupments, the total duration and mileage are being calculated by the total duration and mileage of the trips, acording to support team. As in the detailed reports the durations and mileages provided are coming from the infractions,  the total value of duration and mileage should be coming from infractions.

Idea:
Change the way the report work, calculating the total duration and mileage of infractions instead of the report trips.

Users:
They will be able to know the time spent doing infractions. This works for example for knowing the total time that a unit was above the speed limit, with high speed in the rain, with high RPM and with other criterias.

Eco Driving Report: Duration and Mileage

Re: Eco Driving Report: Duration and Mileage

Hello Fernando Brochetto,
thanks for your ideas and suggestions.

Let me explain why the Duration and Mileage columns show the data on the trips (not violations) of the specified time interval when we use the total row or grouping.
To assess the quality of driving, we use penalty points, on the basis of which ratings are set. Further, for driving quality evaluation you can use one of the averaging algorithms: by mileage or by duration. If averaging (by mileage/by time) has been used, the Total value corresponds to the value received as a result of dividing the total number of scored penalty points by the number of minute intervals (averaging by time), or by the number of kilometer intervals (averaging by mileage) in a trip. You can read more here.
For this, we use the mileage and duration of the trip in the analyzed interval, not violations. In addition, the total mileage or time in violations does not make any sense. How to use these calculated time periods for analysis?
If you provide real examples and cases, then we are ready to analyze the need to make changes to the algorithm or add new columns to the Eco Driving report.

Eco Driving Report: Duration and Mileage

Re: Eco Driving Report: Duration and Mileage

Hello mana,
Yes, I've already read about the penalty points, but in our case, we were trying to control the time spent during high RPM for reducing the fuel consumption.
It was great because we could also give the drivers a score based on the duration of RPM, and this module of Eco Driving can be used for several others criterias. Could maybe be added two new columns in the report?

Duration of Infractions;
Mileage of Infractions.

Since the point of the report is to control the violations, knowing it's mileages and durations is necessary too.

can you tell me more about this control?

this module of Eco Driving can be used for several others criterias.

Please, write in detail about all cases in which it would be useful to consider the duration and mileage of the violation, and not the trip.

Eco Driving Report: Duration and Mileage

Re: Eco Driving Report: Duration and Mileage

Hello mana,

can you tell me more about this control?

Yes, please look the screenshots. The time that the vehicle remained in high RPM is going to be always proportional to the fuel spent: if the vehicle have high percentages of high RPM, the fuel average is going to be bad. It also gives some penalty points to the unit/driver.
After getting the duration, we could also do a percentage calculation (with calculator) to know directly which vehicles have higher percentages of high RPM, related to trip durations. Actually the best way to get these values was by creating a new field inside units like a wrote in this topic, but in Eco Driving panel works too: https://forum.gurtam.com/viewtopic.php?id=15805
As fuel is energy and Eco Driving is a way of reducing it's utilization, I believe that RPM durations are very important to be considered inside Wialon.

Please, write in detail about all cases in which it would be useful to consider the duration and mileage of the violation, and not the trip.

For example, you can create a criteria for high speeds during the rain: if a vehicle have high durations, the driver is in a huge life risk. The same happens when the driver isn't using seatbelt.

The duration with high/low temperatures sometimes can be a good indicator too: for engines, for example, high durations can detect a vehicle defect or bad driver habits.

Eco Driving Report: Duration and Mileage

Re: Eco Driving Report: Duration and Mileage

Fernando Brochetto,

I have one more question.

The time that the vehicle remained in high RPM is going to be always proportional to the fuel spent: if the vehicle have high percentages of high RPM, the fuel average is going to be bad. It also gives some penalty points to the unit/driver.

In Ecodriving table there is no information on fuel consumption, so I still do not understand how and where you will use the obtained values for mileage and duration of violations and how you will give them an estimate.

Eco Driving Report: Duration and Mileage

Re: Eco Driving Report: Duration and Mileage

Hello mana,
The best way of doing this comparison would be if the other topic mentioned before was approved, in this case we'll have to create a report with two tables: eco driving to get the values from RPM and other criterias and summary to get the metrics from the fuel.
Basecally what we do is to compare the averages of fuel with the values of criterias, so with excel we'll be able for now to gather the columns.

Eco Driving Report: Duration and Mileage

Re: Eco Driving Report: Duration and Mileage

Fernando Brochetto,

Thanks for the clarifications. I will note your suggestion in our product backlog, but I can’t tell you yet anything specific on this topic. Currently, we do not have any plans to improve the Ecodriving table, but if other partners support your proposal and bring their cases from real life, we can increase the priority of the task and do a detailed analysis.

P.S.:Thanks for your active participation in the development and improvement of the Wialon.

Hello dear Fernando Brochetto ,

unfortunately, I have no good news for you on this request.
We have not reviewed this request in detail as other partners have not responded to it. As you know, we need confirmation from at least several partners about the benefits and the need for improvement. We hope that other partners will give feedback on your request, which will increase its priority.
