Manually assign trip status using Dallas Key/iButton with reader

Topic: Manually assign trip status using Dallas Key/iButton with reader

We are looking for a possibility to utilise the Dallas Key/iButton with reader feature for trip status.
During the trip drivers has to manually assign a status (for example loading, unloading etc.) and the status with time/location will be listed in a report. The user already uses this hardware for driver identification, connected to a Ruptela ECO4+ device.
Basically, this feature looks like a dashboard mounted keypad.

Thank you for your response.

Manually assign trip status using Dallas Key/iButton with reader

Re: Manually assign trip status using Dallas Key/iButton with reader

Hi, Bart

From what I hear, you want to allow drivers to set trip statuses. At the moment drivers may set trip statuses in the Driving Logbook:

- traffic controller signs into the Driving Logbook and shares the link with the drivers;
- drivers find themselves in the list and set the needed status.

Would that solve the problem you describe?

Please, note that Driving Logbook will get it's mobile view soon.

Another option is to use WiaTag, where drivers may also set custom trip statuses.

Manually assign trip status using Dallas Key/iButton with reader

Re: Manually assign trip status using Dallas Key/iButton with reader

Thanks Pavel. No, this will not solve it. What you explains is for example private/business trip status for tax purposes.
What we are looking for is the status truck drivers has to send/log during their duty. My idea is to use different colours of Dallas keys/ibuttons where each colour represents driver name and status. For example Black=John/loading and Green =John/unloading. Is it then possible to filter statuses for the purpose of set up reports? For the driver management is it possible to assign a two identifications (driver and status)?

Manually assign trip status using Dallas Key/iButton with reader

Re: Manually assign trip status using Dallas Key/iButton with reader

Bart,

that is not only 'Private' or 'Business'. That is a custom field that driver or trafic controller may edit according to your needs. E.g.: I edited the field and clicked 'Apply':
http://dl4.joxi.net/drive/2017/05/16/0022/1790/1500926/26/f367dbf583.png

There is also a 'Notes' field if the driver or controller wants to leave a message.

Is it then possible to filter statuses for the purpose of set up reports? For the driver management is it possible to assign a two identifications (driver and status)?

Yes, you may run a trip report with the status and driver parameters.

Manually assign trip status using Dallas Key/iButton with reader

Re: Manually assign trip status using Dallas Key/iButton with reader

The customer is working for the mining industry in Indonesia. Their drivers are driving coal trucks on a hauling road from the pit to the port. The status need to come from the drivers that are not using any kind of mobile app. My question is if the Dallas/iButton keys can be used to assign a status, the keys also bear the name of the driver. The GPS tracker we use has only one 1-Wire port.

So, each driver has 5 keys with different colour.

Black - ID = John / loading (name + status)
Green - ID = John / unloading
etc.

Another bunch of keys:
Black - ID = Peter / loading
etc.

Can we make a report based on driver and based on the status?

Manually assign trip status using Dallas Key/iButton with reader

(edited by kaippally 17/05/2017 10:08:06)

Re: Manually assign trip status using Dallas Key/iButton with reader

In theory it is possible

Assuming that you distribute 5 Keys per driver you have to create 5 separate notifications  for each event.
If you have 10 driver you will have 10 X 5 = 50 notifications !!
The scalability and deployment of such a system is impractical, and not recommended.

Ideally you should have an  electronic switch that will produce three voltages .  Your device should be configured to read this as a temperature sensor or voltage sensor.

Switch A should produce 0 to 1v
Switch B should produce 1.5v to 2.5v
Switch C should produce 3v to 4v

(leave around .5 for variance)

These values can be interpreted to whatever states in Wialon via sensors. You will need  to create only three notifications to register these events.

Hi zayedsaid14,

do you mean that you would like to filter the trips based on the unit group?
