Activate/Deactivate Unit

Тема: Activate/Deactivate Unit

It's pretty common practice for a client to suspend the account for different reasons, I see that blocking a user is easy,
what's not easy to do is to suspend a unit and be able to restore in the future.
The conflict  happens when we stop getting revenue from the suspended client,  but we  continue to be charged for the unit, unless we delete the unit, this complicates what should be a simple Activate/Deactivate button, since we would have to re-enter the unit information again,
making it an unnecessary burdensome steps.

HEllo,
same problem for use.
Disable/enable option should be added to make it easier for partners.
Thanks

Re: Activate/Deactivate Unit

why don't you export the unit details in CMS to a file and then you can remove the unit. When you want to bring the unit back import the file you saved previously.

Re: Activate/Deactivate Unit

If your customer decides to take a break from the service, you can simply take away access to the system or to a particular unit.

And yes, you are being charged for the unit not while it moves or shows any other kind of activity but while we store its information (messages, properties).

Activate/Deactivate Unit

Re: Activate/Deactivate Unit

hello,
i can take a pencil and draw the info in  a post it assell but this is nlt the point,
ok about alek answer, so why not be charged after 3 months disabled?
i mean, give at least the option to store this info, paying for it, and disable/enable option so after the historic is empty i will have the object info still.
for us worht it than making exportation to another data base

Re: Activate/Deactivate Unit

It seems import/export is the only solution now, because, you know, Gurtam also charges you for the number of units and it would look strange if at the end of the month (or at some other point in time) people would disable units to pay less and the next day those units will come back enabled again...

Re: Activate/Deactivate Unit

Hello,
This could be solved just charging the quantity used per days (dividing fee per 30 days) or just directly charging the whole month total quantity in case there was a data transfer in this month.
Some Telco operators leave a voucher and then charge after having transferred XX Kb.

Dear all

This case is very close to what we requested in https://forum.gurtam.com/viewtopic.php?id=10700 and we strongly believe that will be very useful.

Re: Activate/Deactivate Unit

I think this function is needed so a unit can be soft-suspended.

Activate/Deactivate Unit

Re: Activate/Deactivate Unit

hello, everybody.

suspending a unit is not something, that we practice - it is always more valuable to get messages from a unit than to suspend it.
So - the first variant - to block units same as accounts won't go.

Next variant - to disable unit's messages with a flag in unit's settings - so that you can enable|disable it manually when you want to. We do not see, how it differs from editing/deleting the UID. I means - let's take one unit - it is for instance a ruptella with UID 123456789, if you make it not a ruptella or change the UID to XX123456789 - this unit will not take messages from the tracker due to type+UID mismatch. So the whole Idea to disable the unit manually is already done - not with a flag, but also an easy way to do so.

Finally - the last variant - to add an option into the unit so, that at a certain time, all messages are disabled or the unit is deleted and so on. Plus you ask us to exp[ort all messages, received so far (with sending to your e-mail or direct download), plus unit settings so that in case the customer comes back, you will simply import two files and everything is back to normal.
This also is not something, that should be done by our side:
- regarding messages - even if we export them automatically in some time if messages are very outdated you will not be able to import them (if timestamps in them exceed history settings of the account)
- regarding settings - you should note, that this already can be done + there are also access settings, which are not exported

Usually a customer, that quits the system usage, notifies you about that. Most of our integrators have a developer in their staff and for their ERPs or similar systems they implement the logics, that they want - deleting customer's account, e-mail adresses, disabling their users, sending invoices. As a part of that comes export of the settings in Wialon because an account is not only the units but the resource also with notifications, jobs, geofences, routes and so on.

What we will surely think over - mass messages export (so that you will select the list of the units and with one click get all messages from them).

Re: Activate/Deactivate Unit

Hi there

such a function it so interesting for us too. But we suggest you another variant, you can just change access right to some units and prevent all user under an account to see the unit. this way we receive all messages and after customer payment it will be available again. You may add a expiration date field for account access rights in CMS. After expiration date all users under account should lose access to units. this way is applicable for other objects as well like resource and...
With such a function you don't need to make big changes in system. You will just set a expiration time for access.
What you think about this variant?

Re: Activate/Deactivate Unit

Hello, Hamed, but what we shall do with the creator of the element? Expire his ACL also? Plus - there already is a job on ACL change for a unit (https://docs.wialon.com/en/hosting/user/jobs/access).
