Topic: Automatic checking of "Online-Status" aka 100% availability...
I just thought to show a little usage scenario and some benefits of the flexibility of the Wialon Plattform and the notification system.
One of our customers needs to be 100% sure that all the units are sending their telemetry data on time.
But sometimes their customers do not switch on the power of the mashine, or the unit is somewhere where there is no gps (in a fabric) and so on and so on... Many reasons why a gps tracker is not online.
OK, for this we have the "status symbol" where we can check with the mouse over function, how long a unit was not online.
Or (for those guys, for whom gprs traffic is not a costfactor ("ahhh we dont care traffic, our simcards can consume 500mb per month, it costs us only 4 USD/Month"), of cause you can just let the device send every xx minutes a status message.... but WE care traffic (no device should consume more than 5MB per month).
But still if you use the LAN symbol, our customers does not check that and it is too complicated for them.
So what we did:
1.) create unit groups with
- online in last xx hours
- not online between 6 hours and 24 hours
- not online more than 24 hours
- not online more than 50 hours (need to be checked why)
2.) create a "notification" which checks parameter "in1" available in message (is available in EACH message of a gps tracker), than move unit into group "online in last xx hours" on move unit out of all other groups.
3.) create notifications where you check "signal lost" status and move the unit out of "online in last xx hours" and move it in one of the other groups.
Task done, 5 Minutes work. Customer happy.
